Abstract: Using lead acetate, lanthanum acetate, zirconium oxide acetate and titanium butoxide as precursors, lanthanum doped lead zirconate titanate gel fibers were fabricated by the sol-gel method. After being pyrolyzed and sintered, The PLZT ceramic fibers with a diameter of 25 μm were obtained. The morphology and cross-section of the fibers were studied by SEM. The micrographs show that these ceramic fibers are dense and uniform. The density of the fibers is 7.78×l03 kg/m3, which was measured by Archimedes method. For a PLZT fiber/epoxy 1-3 composite disk with a diameter of 4.4 mm, a thickness of 43 μm and ceramic volume fraction of 0.7, its piezoelectric coefficient d33 and electromechanic coefficient κt are 410 pC/N and 0.631, respectively.
