Abstract: RMCSIM, a computer simulation package developed recently, can be used to simulate ready mixed concrete delivery operations for a concrete plant delivering concrete to multiple sites. RMCSIM simulation runs were reported in Tang et al (2005). A questionnaire survey (Ying and Tang, 2003) was also conducted for finding out what strategies might improve the matching of concrete delivery between plant and sites. The survey suggested two approaches: adjusting the time interval between consecutive truckmixer arrivals, and adjusting the time at loading of truckmixers at the concrete plant. This paper reports 900 simulation results for testing these two approaches, and recommends that a site manager should specify realistic time intervals between consecutive truckmixers. Guidance on this can be referenced to Tables 3a and 3b of this paper.
