Abstract: Based on the concept of the equivalent yieldied base shear-torque surface, using the story element model, this paper developed a kind of simplified approach for evaluation of the seismic nonlinear lateral-torsional coupling effects of multi-story asymmetric building structures. Structural parameters to control the nonlinear seismic performance of asymmetric systems are discussed here. The practicability and reliability of this approach is also verified roughly by the numerical case study.
