Abstract: The Stoll pattern workstation M1 has been developed using automated CAD systems and a twin monitor display. Patterns can be generated using two different modes, the fabric view or the technical view. The technical view is a graphical display of the yarn path diagram of the structure showing the actual knitting sequence and the fabric view is a simulation of the end product allowing the designer to see in advance how a pattern will look. Using both ways, patterns can be developed and modified. The system also includes a shape editor to create fabric shape. It is able to work by measurements of millimetres or inches or by stitches. The final pattern is converted into a knitting program along with solutions for any complications that may arise during the knitting process.
