Abstract: 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) is an alternative to the conventional N-methylol compounds for crosslinking cellulose textiles. Cellulase enzyme treatment is an effective method to improve the hand of cotton fabric. Thus it is of particular interest to treat cotton fabric using cellulase enzyme treatment and BTCA finishing simultaneously. The effectiveness of a one-bath two-phase method was studied. The effect of the enzyme treatment on crosslinking reaction was also investigated.
