Abstract: The dynamic electropulsing induced basal-texture evolution in an AZ61 magnesium alloy was studied by scanning electron microscopy, and backscattered electron microscopy techniques. It was found that electropulsing reduced residual stress inside the rolled magnesium alloy AZ61, which resulted in decreases of both twins and non-basal slips. Electropulsing improved mechanical properties of the alloy. The mechanism of the electropulsing induced texture evolution is discussed from the point of view of electropulsing dynamics.
