Abstract: Iron-gallium alloy, as an emerging class of magnetoelastic material, has attracted a great deal of attention due to its excellent mechanical and magnetostriction properties. This article proposes a magnetoelastic biosensor involving the Fe83Ga17 wire. The resonant frequency and S11 magnitude responses for the different length Fe83Ga17 wires were tested. Furthermore, the response characteristics were improved by optimizing the coil parameters, for example, wire diameter, turn number, and tube diameter. In addition, the annealing treatment to the Fe83Ga17 can also enhance the response characteristics. Finally, the Fe83Ga17 wire-based biosensor was used to measure the ethanol concentration and has good linearity.
