Abstract: Preliminary studies of fire protection aspects at the new international airport in Hong Kong are reported. The "cabin" design concept is evaluated by analyzing flashover time, smoke production rates, and the effects of sprinkler systems. The new fire protection engineering tool FASTLite is used for the study. A total number of forty simulations were performed for different "cabin" sizes and for cases with and without sprinklers.
