Abstract: The no-load and armature reaction magnetic field distributions of a single-sided axial-flux permanent-magnet synchronous generator (AFPMSG) without armature core are determined by analytical solution of the field equations, using a Fourier series approach. The method is computationally efficient and enables the harmonics and field form of the AFPMSG to be evaluated quickly. A finite element analysis of the no-load magnetic field confirms the validity of the proposed analytical method.
