Abstract: The use of a external force system in the identification of system parameters of a supported beam is discussed. The dynamic responses of a prestressed beam under moving load is also studied based on modal superposition in a forward problem. The noise effect is minimized using orthogonal polynomial functions. The results show that the identification of both the system parameters and the moving load with normal modal testing technique is feasible even with noisy data.
