Abstract: An easy synthesis route for conducting polypyrrole/β-cyclodextrin (PPy/β-CD) core-shell spheres has been developed. The conducting spheres were successfully synthesized via a simple stirring/ultrasonic treatment by mixing pyrrole monomer and β-CD in the ethanol/aqueous solution at room temperature. The resultant spheres have a uniform nano- or micro-size and a clear core-shell structure. Further, the morphology and size of the resulting PPy/β-CD spheres depended on the amount of β-CD in the reaction system. A possible formation and size evolution mechanism are proposed.
