Abstract: The next case takes us to Hong Kong, the fifth city in the world to host a Disney theme park, along with Anaheim, in California, Orlando, in Florida, Tokyo and Paris. In their case entitled "Export of American Fantasy World to the Chinese," Professors Susan H. C. Tai and Lorett B. Y. Lau demonstrate that the success of a Disney theme park in one city is no guarantee of success in another city. It is crucial to take cultural differences into account when exporting a concept such as the Disney theme park. Failing to do so can give rise to numerous management, marketing and human resources problems that could compromise the long- term growth and profitability of such projects.
