Abstract: The aurophilicity of sulfur and the bridging of gold(I) centers by bis(diphenylphosphanyl)-n-propylamine (PNP) ligands result in the self- assembly of the highly soluble high-nuclearity propeller-shaped complex [Au 10(μ-PNP) 4(μ 3-S) 4](PF 6) 2 (see picture), which exhibits long-lived luminescence in the microsecond range.
