Abstract: The title complex was synthesized by the reaction of taurine salicylic Schiff base (TSSB), 2,2'-bipyridine (Bipy) and nickel acetate in water-ethanol and its single-crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction method. The crystal structure belongs to monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c with the following unite cell parameters: a = 16.406(2), b = 15.409(2), c = 9.2521(14)Angstrom, beta = 90.3730degrees, M-r = 532.21, V = 2338.9(6) Angstrom(3), Z = 4, D-c = 1.511 g/cm(3), mu = 0.973 mm(-1) and F(000) = 1112. The compound is a two-dimensional plane, infinitely expanding with hydrogen bonds. The Ni (II) was coordinated by three nitrogen and three oxygen atoms excluding those in the Ac- groups to form a distorted octahedron. The coordination capacity of Ni (II) was also discussed.
