Abstract: The authors evaluate and compare HVI, AFIS and traditional cotton testing methods, with emphasis on the measurement of fibre length and trash content. They conclude that the three testing methods are generally comparable, but that HVI and AFIS can provide faster, more objective and more accurate results. Adaption of advanced testing instruments is expected to continue worldwide.
