Abstract: We consider Microsoft’s .NET Framework in relation to its alternative, Sun Microsystems’ Java Virtual Machine. We discuss principal issues for business simulation developers who would use .NET remoting technology. We explain how we applied the technology to an existing computer-assisted business simulation such that the application is available in both a local-area-network pure-Windows version and an Internet-based .NET version. Problems are discussed, and suggestions given for first-time and experienced developers of computerized business simulations.
