Abstract: Microstructure with microsized amorphous grains is found in thick-film Co-Fe-P amorphous alloys prepared by electrodeposition. The amorphous alloys exhibit different structure, mechanical properties, and crystallization behaviors compared with those of homogeneous amorphous alloys, e.g., bulk metallic glasses. The mechanical properties of these microstructured amorphous alloys are characterized by tensile tests, dynamic mechanical analysis, and micro- and nanoindentations. Using a differential scanning calorimeter, the activation energy of the crystallization process of the microstructured amorphous alloy is measured and is found to depend on its microstructure.
