Abstract: The anelastic behaviors of (Bi0.5Na0.5)0.94Ba0.06TiO3 solid solutions under applied electric fields are investigated in order to understand the relaxation processes related with the anti-ferroelectric states. The relaxation process is characterized by the changes of dynamical modulus, internal friction and relaxation time with the applied electric fields at different temperatures. It is found the anomalies of those changes occur around the rhombohedral-to-tetragonal transition temperature. The changes in mechanical spectrum of samples under applied field suggest that there is an electric-filed driven oxygen migration process involved in the anti-ferroelectric transition. The investigations demonstrate that the anelastic analyses on samples under applied electric field could be effective in the characterization of electro-mechanical or electro-chemical processes of solid state ionics.
