Abstract: Ferroelectric strontium barium niobate (SBN) doped silica nanocomposites were fabricated via sol-gel process, in which the SBN precursors were pre-mixed with tetraethoxysilane and ethanol. The doped composites were annealed at 600-800°C for several hours in air. X-ray diffractometry and Raman spectroscopy studies show that the doped SBN is tetragonal tungsten bronze (TTB) structure. Differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) measurement revealed that the ferroelectric to paraelectric phase transition temperature at 50°C was lower than 120°C of bulk SBN materials. The optical transmission and dielectric properties of these nanocomposites were measured.
