Abstract: In Hong Kong a Cotton Day was held on 19 July 2003 with the objective of promoting the use of US cotton in Hong Kong. Several events were organised by the CCI (Cotton Council International) and included a model contest arranged by SCMP Hearst. A fashion show also enlivened the proceedings. CCI is a non-commercial non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting cotton in non-NAFTA markets. Mentioned here is a mark invented 12 years ago called Cotton USA, representing a superior grade of cotton. The Cotton USA mark can be used with established marketing packages. A good deal of the attention focused on the female fashion market, regarded as important in high value cotton products and with the most important sector of that market the 18 to 34 age group.
