Abstract: An intermediate state was observed during the self-assembly of copper nanoparticles into nanobelts in a solution of ionic liquids. The copper nanoparticles produced in a solution of ionic liquids and ethanol were observed to spontaneously aggregate and firstly formed discrete copper belt-shaped structures before gradually merging into continuous copper nanobelts.
