Authors: Wu, Xiaoyan Ivy
Issue Date: Oct-2024
Abstract: Ivy’s doctoral research examines the cross-cultural adaptation of Mainland Chinese students in Hong Kong, focusing on their communicative experiences through a language and social psychology lens. As a Mainland student, She has always been interested in these adaptation challenges, particularly after working with Prof. Watson. In her first year, Ivy conducted a preliminary study, finding that Cantonese proficiency and communication willingness are key to adaptation. Now in her third year, she is analyzing data and writing her thesis while collaborating with global experts like Dr Susan Baker and Prof. Kim Noels.
