Abstract: The large eddy simulation model with Smagorinsky subgrid-scale model was applied to twodimensional turbulent convective cavity flow. The Reynolds number is lying from 1 × 104 to 4 × 105 and Archimedes number from 0 to 0.4. The simulation results were compared with the k - ε model results and experimental results wherever possible. Flow results were in good agreement with experimental data across the mid-planes. Effects of Smagorinsky constant and grid resolution were investigated.
