Abstract: Lead magnesium niobate-lead titanate (0.9Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 - 0.1PbTiO3) multilayer actuator has been fabricated using the roll casting technique. The actuator was designed to have dimensions of 8.5 mm x 8.5 mm x 2.2 mm and each layer was about 145 μm thick. It is fabricated by cofiring the PMN-PT ceramic with platinum internal electrodes. In order to fabricate a multilayer actuator without cracks or delaminations and to speed up the binder burnout process, two brass plates have been used to release heat. This resulted in a crack-free multilayer actuator.
