SureFire : smart urban resilience and firefighting

Abstract

High-density urban environments are prone to greater potential fire risk. Firefighters face a multitude of unpredictable hazards that they are neither trained nor equipped to deal with. In this video, you will learn how Dr Huang and his team develop SureFire, the world’s leading smart firefighting system, with the fusion of big data, Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Based on the training of a massive fire database and building sensor networks, the AI engine is able to achieve super real-time forecast of fire development inside a building. 3-D fire scenes will be visualised in its digital twin system, and the forecasted critical fire events, such as flashover, explosion and structural collapse, will be sent to firefighters to support their firefighting and rescue missions. The implementation of such a smart firefighting system in our fire services will contribute enormously to Hong Kong achieving the status of a leading smart city.
